MIAMI: A 48 HOUR GETAWAY
Posted on 08 February 2016
The day after I got engaged, my fiancé surprised me with a trip to Miami. Florida, in general, has always held a special place in my heart: my parents hibernate in Palm Beach and I have such fond memories exploring the keys as a young girl. Now, it means even more!
Eager to escape our bland weekend ritual and New York City's slushy streets, we decided to revisit Miami for a 48-hour romantic getaway at The One Hotel
. My secret goals over the weekend were to drink fruity cocktails, soak up lots of vitamin D and impress my
fiancé with some of my
new MESTIZA NEW YORK
We landed on a Friday evening and had a dinner reservation right away. I wore the Cha Cha Cha Silver Leaf Top over black pencil pants. I love this top. It’s sexy and effortless.
After several cocktails, we went back to our hotel for late-night indulgent chocolate cake and ice cream.
The following morning, I opened our drapes to a sunny beachside view! We decided to take a stroll along the boardwalk before hitting the pool. It was nice to take time to breath and smell the orchids!
We ventured into South Beach for a casual lunch and stumbled upon Taquiza which serves delicious tacos and Mexican street fare. I loved incorporating vibrant colors into my lunch!
Our friends from Texas raved about a new bar called Broken Shaker at the Freehand Hotel. We tested it out and are so happy we did. The drinks were perfectly crafted and poured over crushed ice. Mine tasted like a chai tea latte with a kick! The pool scene was authentic, cool and overlooked a charming herb garden which I imagine they use in their cooking and amazing cocktails. Music was blasting, the sun was shining and my cocktail goals were accomplished.
On Saturday night, I wore the Maya Maya Jumpsuit for dinner. I got a lot of compliments and everyone loved the intricacy of the beaded bird embellishment. It's a city-sleek garment with an exotic, tropical twist and packs well in your suitcase!
