BEHIND THE SCENES: The Process of Designing the Perfect Wedding Dress
Posted on 10 August 2016
STEP 2: We created a muslin of the dress to see how it was going to be executed. A muslin is a first mock-up of the desired style in a cotton fabric.
STEP 3: We made a version of the dress in a floral lace. We decided to make the dress more organic and unique. To do so, we hand cut appliqués and strategically placed them on the dress. We also scalloped the neckline and the train of the dress, which gave it a more feminine touch. Here are some mid-process photographs:
STEP 4: We sent the dress off to the seamstress and they made it come alive! Monica looked truly beautiful in her custom-made MESTIZA NEW YORK wedding gown.
During the process, Monica expressed to us that she also wanted a simple dress for a private ceremony and a fun after-party dress that would allow for her to dance the night away!
For the ceremony, we took a simple shape and crafted it in an ivory beaded fabric so she would sparkle at the altar.
For the after party, we used our best selling flame tree silhouette and cropped it into a mini dress. We finished it off by crafting and placing it in a grey, fully beaded lace with a scalloped hem. We think she liked it based on that smile!
