My Aunt Morey believed in expressing herself through her fashion choices. She was the queen of the popped collar, Reebok sneaks with a pant suit, and loved eclectic pieces that remained timeless. She knows Iād raid her closet in a skinny minute. Her fashion fearlessness and unique meets quirky style have undoubtedly inspired my choices.
Goodness What hasnāt changed? The landscape has completely evolved since I started blogging 11+Ā years ago. Gone are the days where you wake up and check out your favorite bloggerās website and leave feedback in their comment section -Ā now itās theirĀ Instagram or TikTok. Heck even the title ābloggerā has changed. For the record, Iām not a fan of the word influencer and still refer to myself as a bloggerā¦old habits die hard I suppose. I think what I've come to realize is change is inevitable, you have to be willing to evolve and adapt where it suits your brand, things ebb and flow and donāt feel pressured to hop on every new app/trend if it doesnāt feel organic. This may explain why I have yet to fully adopt TikTokā¦i know i knowā¦my daughters canāt believe it. PS: Canva is one of my favorite tools for graphics.
Itās funny because I LOVE color and bold prints and yet the style Iām most drawn to is neutral and minimal. I find myself following a ton of French style accountsĀ - they just have this ease about their styleā¦itās so beautiful and timeless. My personality requires more color but I have such an appreciation for classic, modern, and neutral. Princess Dianaās style in the 80ās and 90ās will forever be a favorite of mine. The popped collars, the pleats, the sneakers, the effortlessness...itās perfection. I also love the risks Zendaya takes on the red carpetā¦so modern and unique and I donāt think Iāve ever seen her have a āmissā. And good grief Magot Robbie is absolute perfection with this Barbie PR Tour - the girlieness, the color, the glam, the nostalgia. I have been glued to her stylistsā pages. I love Jennifer Connelyās style on the red carpet...itās always very modern, unique, and polishedā¦I think as Iāve aged my style has evolved more with what is most flattering on my figureā¦Iād say thatās a good tip, right?
Oh this is easy, the Pomodoro Caftan a la Mrs. Roper from Threeās Company (Iām fully aware Iām totally dating myself), a show I watched religiously with my older brother Jarrod after school. Man was she an iconā¦.add her to my style icon list! Big bold jewelry, more is more, vibrant colors, you name it!
My Roxanne Assoulin bracelets. I attended an event last month and forgot to put them on and felt naked the entire night. Oh and Neubrow brow serumā¦.beauty accessory but a necessary one nonetheless.
Unique, standout, feminine, beautifully tailored pieces that are infused with personality!Ā When I wore my Mestiza dress I felt a sense of confidence and easeā¦a winning combo in my book!
