I’m Lucia, and I’m an entrepreneur, a writer, and a mom of two tiny humans! I’m passionate about the written word, a wildlife enthusiast and while I don’t have many opportunities to dress up, I love the idea of ball gowns and was so thrilled to have received my Tatiana Gown! 

Yes, I suppose you can say that I’ve been bitten by the travel bug and have never gotten it out of my system! One of my favorite memories of traveling was taking the bullet train in Japan to a new city / prefecture every month. When I visited Kyoto, two of my Japanese friends and I dressed in the Maiko (Geisha apprentice) attire and walked a few blocks, and it was quite the experience! Although my roots are in Asia, I think the most exciting destination I’ve been to is still in Tanzania, Africa. I love roaming the Serengeti jeep from dawn until dusk and following prides of lions around. Being out in nature and surrounded by wildlife is always thrilling and at once humbling.

I like to think of books like doors into another realm, a new world. So I’ve been reading to my kids since they were a few months old and I’d read a minimum of four books in one sitting! Since the beginning, I also encouraged my husband to read to them whenever he has time, so I think it’s important that both parents develop this habit together. Two is always better than one!

I illustrate when I have time! I’ve illustrated a few children’s book, and I hope to continue to do this. It’s difficult to find the time to do so, so I typically plan for 1-2 nights a week to spend at least half an hour drawing. Another one of my passions is languages! I hope to pick up another language before the end of the year!

For me, self-care means a break from my work and other commitments, take a step back so that I can recharge. Sometimes, it can be as simple as a walk in the neighborhood with my audio book, but most of the time, I feel most rejuvenated when I’m creating something for leisure like writing a short story or drawing/painting with no particular goals or deadlines.

Books! Although recently, I found myself really enjoying listening to audio books because it allows me to multitask. Oftentimes I’ll find myself drawing while listening to a book.

I am looking forward to traveling back to Tanzania to visit family and friends! I haven’t traveled internationally in 2 years, and so this is definitely my trip of the year!

I love the use of florals in many of the dresses, especially the details in the embroidery. I also appreciate the fact that Mestiza creates both casual dresses that one could wear to the beach, and more elegant gowns that’s fit for a ball!
