The MNY Spotlight
Meet this week's Tastemaker, Caroline Vazzana: Fashion Content Creator, Stylist, & Author
Hi! I’m Caroline Vazzana, a NYC based fashion content creator and stylist, as well as the author and founder of Making it in Manhattan.
I have always been a creative person, and originally wanted to be an artist. I then fell in love with the idea of becoming a fashion designer after discovering Project Runway. In college, I studied fashion design and merchandising, landing my first job out of college with Teen Vogue and InStyle magazines. I then started writing Making it in Manhattan to give advice from the perspective of someone that was still building their career. I felt like most of the books that were on the market were written by people who already went through the process of building their career in fashion and I wanted to offer a different perspective, like a big sister or best friend, holding your hand and guiding you along the way.

I always love the energy right before a runway show begins. Fashion month is one of my favorite times of the year as I get to see so many friends I don’t normally get a chance to see, and of course I love viewing the new collections. I always feel so inspired after New York and Paris Fashion Week.
This is definitely one of the biggest compliments as Carrie Bradshaw and Patricia Field’s styling of the character have always been such an inspiration to me. Carrie inspired me to embrace my love for colorful and fun fashion, to not care about other people’s perceptions, and to just wear what you love. Also, fun shoes really are a must!

Does Carrie count? Truly if I could step into that closet even if only for a few hours I’d be so happy.
Fashion is my way of expressing myself and I consider myself to be an emotional dresser. When I get dressed in the morning, unless I already have an idea, I tend to see what pieces I gravitate towards first, then build the rest of the outfit around that selection. I like pairing pieces together that are a bit unexpected and wear things that make me happy. My biggest advice when putting together an outfit each morning is to start with one piece and then style the look around it.
For me, maximalism is always on trend, but it’s really having a moment right now. Lately I’ve been loving platforms with prints, colorful, long gloves and of course, tulle!

This is so hard as I would love to do both! I would probably say attend the Met Gala as that is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Definitely vintage designer pieces. They are so much more unique, and I love being able to utilize vintage pieces to fit my style.
Hmmmm I’d say bags just because there’s so many cool vintage ones I could spend forever hunting down.
I love that Mestiza’s pieces are chic, classic, and timeless but can be styled in so many different ways.
The Georgiana Gown makes me feel so confident and happy.
