“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards..."
FROM THE DESK OF ALESSANDRA PEREZ-RUBIO
“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” - Steve Jobs
Every day we learn something new. As co-founders Louisa and I still feel entrenched in the start-up grind, even though we’ve been at this for the better part of a decade. The other day Lou was venting to me “I wish we knew 6 years ago what we know today!” I thought about it and it’s a common frustration, we all wish we had exhibited the wisdom, prudence, insight we currently have, and in a moment of clarity I disagreed. Because for Mestiza, everything happened the way it was meant to. Six years ago, we wouldn’t have been able to execute the way we do now, we were not as efficient, tactful or shrewd. We’ve experienced quite a bit these start-up years, from colossal screw-ups to earth-shattering epiphanies (and everything in between). Quite simply, we have had years and years of learning something new every single damn day. So today is the absolute perfect time to know what we know, and use it to forge ahead. No one said it better than Steve Jobs himself, “trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something”. I agree with him and I trust in ourselves, in this very moment.
