The MNY Spotlight

Calling All Brides

A SUNDAY COLLECTION SPOTLIGHT FROM MESTIZA CO-FOUNDER, ALESSANDRA PEREZ-RUBIO

We are on the cusp of wedding season and because of all the postponements and cancellations, it certainly feels like there are more matrimonial celebrations taking place this year than ever before.

Here at Mestiza, we are so eager to show off some of our favoriteĀ bridalĀ dresses for all the wedding festivities to take place this season, especially because I think the post pandemic bride is a little more audacious than before. Sheā€™s not necessarily into the pomp and circumstance that comes with traditional wedding styleā€”sheā€™s willing to go casual, be daring and really show off her personality. Whether she is incorporating texture, color or exaggerated bows, this is the time where I think it is totally ok to break the rules!

Ā One of my favorite trends that I am seeing is when brides wear color on their big day! While white is the conventional choice, I love seeing women incorporate unexpected color into their looks.Ā OurĀ Georgiana GownĀ is the perfect ā€œsomething blueā€ gown that would look stunning on the aisle.

I would even be so bold as to suggest theĀ Lorena GownĀ with a blush pink veil as a bold civil ceremony option. For the alternative bride, who jets off to Vegas to elope, I can see her rocking theĀ Flora Mini DressĀ with some cowboy boots and a baby blue blusher.

I recently got engaged myself last month, and even though my wedding will be a much smaller and intimate affair (this will be me and my fiancĆ©s second go of it!), I am still excited to let my personality shine through in myĀ bridalĀ style.Ā  I still havenā€™t dreamed up what I am going to wear myself, but I do know that I will also be breaking some rules, and I hope all the brides out there reading this do the same!Ā
