A Love Letter In Lace: A Chic, Lively NYC Wedding in Custom Mestiza

This past June, Mestiza's PR, Influencer, and Social Media Manager, Eileen Gazzola, celebrated a truly unforgettable day, marrying Steven Mahon in the historic downtown of New York City. From exchanging vows at the oldest Catholic church in New York State to celebrating on the lively streets of Wall Street, every moment reflected timeless New York charm - a night to remember in the neighborhood they proudly call home.

FiDi Throughout: Engagement, Rehearsal Dinner & Wedding Celebration

The weekend kicked off with an intimate rehearsal dinner at Fraunces Tavern, just a stone’s throw from where Eileen and Steven first got engaged (on Stone Street!) The historic space, with its brick walls and candlelit nooks, felt like the perfect backdrop for a night of laughter, storytelling, and quiet anticipation for the big day ahead. Friends and family toasted to the couple with carefully curated cocktails and chicken pot-pie, while the cozy, warm atmosphere allowed everyone to savor the moments before the whirlwind of the wedding day.

Getting Ready:

The morning of June 7th began with a soft drizzle outside, but inside, the vibe was all warmth and laughter. Eileen’s bridesmaids arrived in Mestiza’s Gigi Pajama Set in Solihiya Green—a subtle nod to the tones that carried through the day’s palette. The matching sets struck that perfect balance of comfort and polish, setting the scene for a morning filled with giggles, champagne toasts, and a delicious Maman spread that kicked off the celebrations.

By early afternoon, the bridal suite at The Wall Street Hotel had transformed into a swirl of color and excitement. As Eileen stepped into her gown in her suite, her bridesmaids changed into soft pastels of pinks, blues, and greens echoed the early summer palette and The Wall Street Hotel's decor. Two of her bridesmaids wore Mestiza’s Alemais Gown and Adelina Gown, that added a touch of shimmer and drama to the FiDi celebration’s effortless elegance.

The Ceremony: Romance & Tradition

Eileen walked down the aisle of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, the oldest Catholic church in New York State, wearing a custom Mestiza gown she dreamt up alongside Alessandra Perez-Rubio, Creative Director & Co-Founder, and Raelyn Browning, Design & Production Manager of Mestiza New York. The drop-waist silhouette was crafted in a hand-corded rose lace, featuring a hand-sewn scalloped trim, and layers of tulle and contrasting lace that added depth and dimension. Delicate buttons trailed down the back, while the scalloped hem was meticulously hand-sewn by Raelyn in late hours at the office, a final, personal touch that made the gown feel entirely special and her own.

As Eileen and Steven shared their first kiss, guests rang bells in celebration before showering the couple in dried lavender—a touch of French whimsy and a nod to their soon-to-come honeymoon abroad. The skies cleared just in time for their getaway in a vintage taxi, bound for a reception where live jazz and tasty cocktails awaited.

Guests enjoyed spicy margaritas, vodka martinis, and canapés by Michelin-starred chef John Fraser before moving into the ballroom for dinner and dancing.

The After Party: Champagne, Beads & Dancing

When dinner wrapped, Eileen slipped into a show-stopping custom Mestiza Dotty Mini Dress - a strapless design with a champagne base and an overlay of silver bead and pearl detailing that caught the light with every step. The bell skirt gave it a playful edge, making it the perfect piece for a night of dancing and celebrating surrounded by friends and family.

The dance floor was alive all night, a reflection of the couple’s personality: genuine, joyful, and effortlessly fun. Every detail, from the music to the dessert, felt like an extension of Eileen and Steven themselves.

The Mestiza Team danced the night away - Louisa Rechter wore the Lillian Dress, Maggie Maloy wore the Liezel Convertible™ Gown, Raelyn Browning wore the Wilder Gown, and Alessandra Perez-Rubio wore the Celestina Sequin Dress

“We weren’t chasing perfection, instead we wanted our wedding to feel entirely like us: intimate, genuine, personal, and unapologetically New York. The storm rolled through, scaffolding appeared outside the church overnight, and somehow, it all felt meant to be. We chose the Financial District because it’s home. I designed a gown with my brilliant Mestiza team that felt like a piece of my heart. We said ‘I do’ in the oldest Catholic church in New York and gathered 121 of our favorite people for a night that unfolded in the most romantic way—full of love, dancing, and moments we’ll cherish forever.”
