The MNY Spotlight
Meet Lauren Neff, Founder of the blog Bonhomie
We're prepping for festive dressing season with Lauren Neff. By day she works in public affairs for a biotech company, and by night she is sharing her beloved style finds, cozy and chic interiors, and plants with her audience on her blog Bonhomie.
I live in Washington, DC with my husband Pete and our two children, Mary Jane and Bennett. I have always been interested in politics and moved here right after college to work on Capitol Hill. There’s where I met my husband and the rest was history! I started my blog, Bonhomie, in the height of the pandemic as a creative outlet. It began with sharing tablescapes and has since evolved to include style, interiors, travel, and other interests (mainly lots of plants!).
Your personal style extends beyond the clothes you wear, but also into your beautiful home and how you decorate it! How would you describe your style?
I am so inspired by nature and I think that comes through in both my home and what I wear. I love florals, texture, and lean toward a soft and natural color palette. I’d say my style is mostly anchored in classic pieces and relaxed but playful. I love a good pair of jeans as much as a fabulous party dress!
Your blog bonhomie features things to wear, travel guides, and more! Can you share a few things that you are currently loving?
What are your favorite plant/flower tips to liven up a space?
My two favorites: topiaries and bulbs. Myrtle topiaries can be tricky, but they’re so worth the effort because they make such a statement in a space. I also love bulbs of all kinds – it’s almost amaryllis and paper white season and I couldn’t be more excited! You can order bulbs pre-planted online and I find them to be pretty low maintenance!
With the holidays fast approaching, what pieces are you shopping to wear for Thanksgiving, Holidays, and other festive gatherings?
I am always drawn to rich textures and fabrics during the holidays – velvet, taffeta, satin, feathers!
What do you love most about the Mestiza brand?
I love the classic, timeless feel of Mestiza pieces. And the fabrics are gorgeous!
